What a joy to get into our Fall series on Genesis 1-11 this past Sunday! Back to the Beginning is so relevant to the things we need to “get back to” in our world today.
This Sunday, in Genesis 2:1-25, I will be sharing a message entitled “Breath Of Life,” and we will be looking at gender and sexuality and marriage. We’ll also look at the biblical concept of rest from the seventh day and look at the meaning of the two trees in this chapter. And, as always, we will see how it all connects to Christ. The second chapter of Genesis is so rich and so relevant. I hope to see you on Sunday, and, as always, invite a friend to join you.
This past Sunday I also took a few minutes to speak about some of the things happening in our world. Our hearts have been broken by the assassination of Charlie Kirk, who was such a strong witness for Christ on college campuses, and who made such a difference in helping this generation to come back to biblical, conservative values. If you haven’t had a chance to hear what we talked about, you can check out the video or audio of the service. But one thing I mentioned was the need for courage. Charlie’s murderer wanted Bible-believing Christians to “shrink back and shut up.” Instead, let us do the opposite. Let us be inspired by his example to “be strong and courageous” (Joshua 1:9). God’s people need to be bolder than ever in such a time as this.
Let us be like our Lord, “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Like Charlie, let us engage people in conversation about Christ and Scriptural truth, and do so with compassion and calm and courage. Our broken world needs it today more than ever.
Our enemy, the devil, is working overtime these days. But his doom is sealed. Christ has already won, and the enemy is lashing out because he knows he was defeated at the cross and empty tomb. One day our Savior is returning in victory to destroy all evil and restore the perfection of His creation. Until that day, let us be unafraid and unashamed ambassadors for Christ, valiant for the truth and loyal to our King.
By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,
Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
