Pastor Post - June 30, 2020
Dear FBC family,
I’m looking forward to being back with you all this Sunday, as we continue with our Summer in the Psalms series. This Sunday, we’ll look at the incredibly beautiful and challenging Psalm 16, as we talk about “The Beauty of the God-Centered Life.”
Read and pray this Psalm in advance of Sunday. Note the singleness of David’s focus in verses 1-8. Pray and meditate on these verses, and let them move you to a more single-minded devotion to the Lord.
Note the focus on the Savior in verses 9-11. These verses are quoted prominently in the New Testament, as they point to the resurrection of Jesus. What do these verses say about Christ? What are the implications for those who are united to Christ?
I’m thankful for David preaching in my stead on Sunday, and thankful for some time to rest and reflect after the passing of my mom. Grief is a part of life in this fallen world. We all experience it. But God uses the griefs and pains of this life to draw us closer to himself. I’m grateful for a risen Savior. We’ll see him clearly in Psalm 16 this Sunday. See you then, in person or online.
By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,
Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
