Pastor Post - September 9, 2020
Hey FBC Family,
I am praying for you as you transition into the Fall. It was wonderful to feel those crisp breezes on Labor Day weekend, wasn’t it?
New breezes are blowing at FBC, too. This Sunday we begin a new series and a new schedule. The new sermon series will be on Isaiah. For a couple of years now, the Holy Spirit has drawn my heart to this great prophetic book. Isaiah is quoted in the New Testament more than any other Old Testament book . It is loaded with the good news of the gospel. I believe you’ll find this series to be very rich and very soul-nourishing. Most of all, it will fix your gaze on Christ. Be praying for this journey that kicks off on Sunday, as we look at Isaiah 1:1-18, “Introducing the Book of Isaiah.” It also happens, in God’s providence, that many of our Bible study groups are studying Isaiah this Fall as well. How cool!
This Sunday we also launch into a new Fall schedule. We will continue to be in two worship services, the first at 8:30 and the second at 10:30, which will also be Live-Streamed. In between, at 9:30, many of our Bible Study groups will be meeting – some on campus, and some virtually. This schedule will give you the option to attend whichever service you prefer, while still being able to take part in your Bible study. (Teachers, please dismiss your groups in time for people who are attending the second service to be seated by 10:30. We are beginning our worship services these days by quieting our hearts before God in prayer, so it is super important for people to be there for that precious time at the beginning of the service.)
I’m so looking forward to this Fall! Covid-19 cannot stop the Holy Spirit from moving beautifully in our hearts during this Fall of 2020. Be in prayer for Sunday. See you then.
By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,
Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
