Pastor Post-November 12, 2024

This week we will look at Daniel 11:21-45 as we talk about “The Strange Case Of Mr. Hyde And Mr. Hyde.” Of course, in the classic horror novel there is a good character, a “Dr. Jekyll.” In the latter part of Daniel 11, there is no “good guy.” There are two very bad ones – the forerunner to the Antichrist and the Antichrist himself.
But evil will not prevail! The Antichrist will not have the final word. That final word and final victory belongs not to the Antichrist, but to the Christ. On Sunday, we will talk about Christ’s final victory and all the wonderful implications of that victory for us. So be reading over the text in preparation and come prayed up.
Veteran’s Day was this past Monday. Let us thank God each day for our military! Veterans, thank you for your service on behalf of our nation. We love and appreciate you.
Speaking of our military, Americans elected a new Commander-in-Chief of our military last week. President Trump needs the prayers of God’s people as he gives leadership to our nation. That includes prayers for his protection and the protection of his family. Two assassination attempts have already been made on him. So let us earnestly pray for his safety and that of his family. Let us pray for his health. Let us pray that God will give him wisdom in the setting of priorities, the choosing of staff and cabinet, managing the economy, and in dealing with world leaders. There is so much on his plate.
This is why the Bible commands us to “Pray for kings and those in authority” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). It is not easy to lead. So let us lift up our President to the throne of grace. God has spared his life on multiple occasions for a reason. Let us pray that this will be a season of peace and prosperity for our nation and the world. A time of getting back to the things that made our nation flourish. A time of drawing together.
Pray for our Thailand team as they represent the Lord and our church family over the next couple of weeks. As you heard on Sunday, they will be engaged in exciting gospel work. You are involved in that work too, as you pray for them, and as you give toward missions.
Speaking of which, our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering season is upon us. Our goal is $60,000. Be in prayer about what God would have you give this year to reach the last, the least, and the lost around the world.
I’m looking forward to this Sunday! Until then, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2).

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,

Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
