Pastor's Post- July 22, 2025
This week we will be in yet another classically rich chapter in the Gospel of John. John 17:1-26 is “The Real Lord’s Prayer."
The prayer of Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4 is, in truth, “The Disciples’ Prayer.” It is our Lord teaching us how to pray. He is not praying the prayer himself but giving us a model for prayer.
The prayer of John 17 is indeed a prayer of Jesus, and it contains all kinds of treasures that we need to bring out and savor. We’ll do that this Sunday as we dig into the riches of the real Lord’s prayer.
Here is what you can do in preparation for it – be in prayer yourself! Let us come into the sanctuary prayed up and filled with anticipation, ready for the Spirit move through the Word. Reach out to a friend and invite them to join you.
See you on the Lord’s Day!
By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,
Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
