This week we will look at John 11:1-44 as we talk about “The Resurrection And The Life.”  This is the final and ultimate of the seven signs of John’s gospel – resurrection!

At the heart of Christianity is the fact that we have a Risen Savior who has defeated death.  The resurrection of Lazarus is the sign that points to Christ’s resurrection and our own (see 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-58).  Just as Christ called Lazarus out of the grave, on the glorious day of his return he will do the same for all who have died in Christ.

Oh what a blessing to know that saved loved ones are away from the body and at home with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-7)!  Oh what a blessing to know that when Christ comes all who are in Christ will get imperishable bodies, without all the issues we deal with in these perishable bodies we have now!

But we have many in our lives who are not saved and not ready for their own death or for Christ’s return.  Let us share the good news of Jesus with them in the power of the Spirit.  Part of that is to invite them to come to church with us.  At FBC-Suffolk, you can count on the good news of Jesus being proclaimed every single Sunday, which means that every single Sunday is an evangelistic opportunity for you to bring friends who need the Lord.  So make that invitation.
