Pastor Post - April 14, 2020

Dear FBC family,

I trust that you had a wonderful Easter.  No matter what is going on around us, Jesus is alive and he is Lord!

As we think about the effect of the COVID-19 crisis going on in this country, it’s important to remember that this is a Pandemic – an illness that is spanning the whole globe. As I hear from our missionaries, they are going through the same thing we are.  The closings and lockdowns that are happening here are happening there, except in many poorer countries it is much, much harder for people to work from home or shelter in place.

So please remember our missionaries in your prayers. Remember the people they work with.  Pray that this virus will not break out significantly in the crowded nations of the world that don’t have anything like the healthcare system we have here.

I’ve been so encouraged to hear from missionaries who are praying for the American church during this time.  Here’s what one of your IMB missionaries recently wrote:

“God is still working.  He is not distracted, delayed, or derailed by the Corona virus.  Travel restrictions do not restrict the work of the Father.  Our plans have been disrupted – sometimes to our frustration and disappointment – but His plans and His work have not.  Therefore, as we make tough decisions and settle into new realities, let’s look for the opportunities emerging all around us.  We know He is at work, so let’s be about the Father’s business!”

Amen!!  This is the spirit of your missionaries.  Let’s keep praying for them and supporting them in every way.

With each passing day, I am continually encouraged by the spirit of the people of our church.  These are times when the reality of our faith and our commitment to Jesus is tested, and you guys are passing the test.  Let’s stay close to our Lord and one another.  Let’s keep loving our neighbors and serving our community.  We are going to come out of this stronger than ever before.

This Sunday we will look at some of the post-resurrection appearances of our Lord.  Read over John 20:19-31 in preparation.  I’m calling this sermon, “Life In His Name.” It is designed with these times in mind.  Tune in on Sunday morning, and share it with friends.

I love you, church family!
