This week we will explore Isaiah 58:1-12 and talk about “Fake Religion vs. True Relationship.”  This is an incrediblyconvicting passage.  It shows us the difference between religious pretense and a love relationship with God.  The differences are stark, but often hard to see at first.  But Isaiah lays them bare in this powerful chapter.  

If we come at this text with the idea that hypocrisy only exists “out there,” then we will never deal honestly with what is “in here,” in our own hearts and lives.  All of us need passages like this one, that remind us of what a true relationship with the Lord looks like…and what it doesn’t look like.  May God’s Spirit use it to make us more aware of our sin, but at the same time more aware of his amazing grace for sinners like us.  May it humble us and make us love God all the more!
