Pastor Post - April 8, 2020

Dear FBC Family,

As we are walking through Holy Week during this time of “social distancing,” my prayer for you is that you are “drawing near” to the Savior.

This is such a special week for believers.  I have been posting devotional meditations for each day of this week, taking a look at what Jesus was doing on each day and its significance for us.  Check them out on Facebook or our church website.  They will bless and encourage you.

Thank you so much, sweet church family, for your faithfulness during this time.  Your week-by-week consistency in watching the sermons and then sharing them with your friends is such an encouragement.  They are getting thousands of views!  And if you don’t have a computer or know someone who doesn’t, please just let us know.  We make DVDs and CDs every week, and we will make sure they get what they need.

Thank you for your consistency in continuing to give, even during this time when so many are taking a financial “hit.”  This says so much about our church, and your faith that God will provide for you!  And, again, if you’d like to get set up with online giving and need some help with doing that, just let us know.  We even made a short and simple video that can walk you through it step-by-step.  You could check that out on Facebook or our church website.  But if you have any questions at all about getting your offering to the church in whatever form you choose, just give Cary a call in our office.

There is so much to be thankful for and to praise God for!  I keep hearing wonderful reports of Sunday School classes meeting on Zoom, and have experienced that myself.  It is such a blessing to see the faces of our brothers and sisters, and to study the word together and pray together.  That is now possible through technology.  Again, if you need help with setting that up, just let us know.

New ministries have started – FBC members are making masks for healthcare workers, and taking meals to them.  Let us know if you’d like to plug into either of those ministries.  So many of you are actively calling one another and quietly meeting all kinds of needs. I am so proud of our church!

This Easter Sunday I’m going to preach a special message entitled, “COVID-19 and the Renewal of all Creation.”  My text will be Romans 8:18-25.  This will be a brand-new message that will be especially designed for these days.  We’re going to see how this groaning creation is going to be liberated, and how we can live in that hope right now.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Thurman
