Pastor Post - August 30, 2017

This Sunday we will be in Acts 27, which is one of the most famous accounts of a storm and shipwreck that is found in ancient literature. It is vivid and contains edge-of-your-seat suspense. But far more importantly, it contains the encouraging truth about “Anchors in the Storm.”

Read through the chapter prior to Sunday. You’ll find it fascinating, especially if you have any experience with boating or sailing. But whether you are familiar with nautical issues or not, you’ll be encouraged.

  • Look at verses 23-25. What anchors do you see here?

  • Look at verse 34. What does this promise remind you of?

  • Look at verse 35. What meal does this remind you of?

  • Throughout the entire, harrowing storm, a promise lurks in the background. What is it? Hint: See Acts 23:11

Speaking of storms, remember to pray for the people of Texas as they pick up the pieces from Hurricane Harvey and the flooding that came along with it. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams are already on the ground and the giving of our church to the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program is helping many in need in this situation.

It is wonderful to be working with many people who are new to our church, and others who will be baptized or become new members very soon. Keep them in your prayers. The enemy loves to discourage people when God begins to work in their lives. Lift them up in the midst of spiritual battles.

How encouraging it is to be a part of a church family where the Spirit of God is at work! Keep praying, keep reaching out, keep sharing Jesus, keep inviting others to come, and keep welcoming new people when you see them.

Looking forward to Sunday with you.

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,
