Pastor Post - December 14, 2022

This Sunday, as we continue in our Advent series, Christmas Wonder, we will look at 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.  The titles in this series are coming from famous Christmas songs and movies, and this week it is “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

The themes of joy, thanksgiving, and the peace that comes through prayer pervade this great text.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 is an easy passage to memorize, and I strongly encourage you to do so.  Memorize it, meditate on it, chew on it…and put it into practice.  Let’s talk about it on Sunday.

It was wonderful to see so many of you streaming forward with Lottie Moon Christmas Offerings this past Sunday!  Our ingathering service is really our official “kick off” to this season of missions giving, and we are off to a great start.  In fact, as of this writing, we have already given $41,574 toward our goal of $60,000…with more pending.  Be open to the Holy Spirit leading you to put us “over the top!”

What gift could be more important or strategic?  What gift could more reflect the heart of Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us?

Remember our Thailand team in your prayers.  Continue to remember Pastor Thompson in your prayers.  I was blessed to be part of Helen’s homegoing service earlier this week, and the Holy Spirit gave Pastor Thompson the strength and the right words to say as he helped us celebrate Helen’s life and the eternal life Christ gives.

Speaking of which, there are people in each of our lives who need that eternal life.  This season is an awesome time to reach out to them, talk about the true meaning of Christmas, and invite them to one of our services to hear more.  Be praying for “one” and inviting them to Jesus and His church.

I love you, FBC family!
