Pastor Post - February 15, 2017

Sunday was a fantastic day in the life of our church! We can feel the life of God’s Spirit moving and working in our congregation, and it is wonderful.

It was great to take a Sunday and walk with you through the “3 Circles” way of presenting the good news of Jesus. This built on the training we received during Sunday School a few weeks ago. It’s incredibly helpful to think through the gospel, and prepare to share it with others.

In fact, it is amazing how many of you have approached me and shared how God is already presenting opportunities for you to share with people. God does things like that! When he knows we are ready and seeking the opportunities to love people and share with them, He opens those doors. He also opens hearts, which is why we are praying for at least three people in our lives – that God would be working in their hearts to draw them to Himself, and that He will make us faithful to share with them in 2017.

Listen, if you want to experience the Holy Spirit working in your life, get active in sharing the Good News of Jesus with others! As a follow up to Sunday, I’d encourage you to go over the 3 circles presentation until you feel very comfortable with it. This will help you seize the moments God presents for you to share.

Our Chili Cook-Off was such a fun event this past Sunday night. How fantastic to see such a large and energetic crowd, having lots of fun, making friends and deepening friendships, and in the process helping our students share Christ in Haiti this summer. And how cool to see so many students there serving chili! Whether it’s 8 degrees or 80 degrees (like Sunday), it’s a fun time when the Body of Christ gets together.

This Sunday we’ll have a special opportunity to hear from one of our Sunday School teachers, Steve Harmon. Steve is a Tennessee native, and he and Nancy came to FBC from Alabama. Steve serves as President of the Community Electric Cooperative, but his ultimate passion is helping people get connected to Jesus Christ. In fact, during his career in the business world, he has also served on multiple church staffs, and has served as an interim pastor.

He’s going to be speaking about how to deal with fear. How many things are we tempted to worry and get fearful about? Plenty! It’s one of the favorite tactics of the enemy. What does the Bible say about overcoming it? That’s the subject this Sunday. You’ll want to be a part of it.

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,

Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
