Pastor Post - February 14, 2018

What a wonderful Sunday we just experienced! In the morning, it was great to plunge into Romans 2, and then have a fantastic luncheon with lots of prospective members at Discovering FBC. In the evening, we had an absolutely fantastic Chili Cook Off – there were so many people in the Family Life Center we had to set up chairs! It was a super day of worship and fellowship together.

We do indeed live in a world that needs Jesus, and the International Mission Board (IMB) is the largest missions agency in the world. It is a great blessing to serve as an IMB Trustee. This week Dr. David Platt, our IMB President, asked the trustees to begin a search process for a new President. Dr. Platt has begun serving as a pastor at McLean Bible Church, in northern Virginia. He will continue to serve in a dual role as IMB President during the search process, to ease the transition. As a trustee, I am very excited for David, because I know that God led him in this decision. But I am equally excited for IMB, because I know God will be faithful to lead us to the next President.

Our church is a leading supporter of IMB, and the work of the gospel that takes place through our 3,500 missionaries around the globe. So please pray for the search process. It really does impact the whole world.

This Sunday we will welcome a dear friend with a huge heart for the unreached peoples of the world. He is getting ready to head out for a couple of weeks, so I have asked him to come and preach and share with us, so that we can be informed and ready to undergird him with our prayers. Remember: we may not be able to go all the places he goes, but we are a part of things everywhere he goes through our praying and giving. I know you’ll welcome him warmly on Sunday. You won’t want to miss it!

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,

Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
