Pastor Post - February 15, 2023

This week in our series, Tell Me The Story Of Jesus, we will look at Luke 10:38-42.  The title of the message is “One Thing.”

This is another passage that is unique to Luke’s gospel, and it is incredibly important and powerful, especially in our time and culture.  We live in an age of distraction and worry.  There is an epidemic of anxiety, as our lives are pulled in so many different directions.  There is so much “hurry sickness.”

As disciples of Jesus, agitated anxiety is not to be our lifestyle.  Jesus knew this was an issue with fallen human beings, which is why he talked so much about these issues.  And we’ll talk about what he says about it on Sunday.

What a joy this past Sunday to welcome Angel and Jackie Velez, and their son, Angel, to our church family!  God is blessing us with so many new people.  Angel and Jackie will also be baptized soon.  Praise God!  Welcome this family when you see them, and make a special effort each Sunday to look for new faces to greet…there are many of them.

What other new faces might there be, that God can use you to invite?  It is wonderful to see our members bringing friends.  I think about the story of the friends bringing their friend to Jesus, and they were so determined that they tore a hole in the roof and lowered him down.  How determined are you to get your “one” in a place where they can here the good news of Jesus?  When people get under the hearing of the gospel, the Spirit is unleashed in power.  Tell them about Jesus.  Bring them to a church where they are guaranteed to hear about him…Sunday after Sunday.  Reach out to someone right now and invite them to join you this Sunday.

I will see you then, with a Bible in my hand.
