Pastor Post - January 16, 2019

This Sunday; New Wednesday Night Studies

What do we mean when we speak of the “call” of God? Sometimes this is simply applied to those who are “called” to be missionaries or pastors. But when the Bible speaks of calling, the term is not confined to such individuals.

All believers are called to belong to Jesus. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:23-24, “But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

Furthermore, all believers are called to ministry and missions. This does not mean that every believer is called to the vocation of pastor or missionary, but it does mean that every believer is saved to serve. It means that every believer is called to impact his or her world for the advance of the gospel.

We will see all of that this week as we continue in our new series, Encountering Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. We’ll talk about “Encountering His Call,” from Luke 5:1-11.

Also just a reminder that this Wednesday we will begin some new Deeper Life studies. I hope you’ll come out on these cold Wednesday nights and be warmed by the Word and the fellowship of brothers and sisters.

Pastor David and I will be teaching on “Prayer and Spiritual Awakening,” from various texts. Each week we will expound on a different biblical text that will help invigorate our prayer lives and also talk about how that relates to revival. We would love for you to be a part of it!
