Pastor Post - January 20, 2021

What a blessing to worship together this past Sunday, and to celebrate Christian baptism.  We rejoice with Hannah Emerson, who was baptized.  Be praying for Hannah, as she follows Jesus as her Savior and King.

This Sunday we will look at Isaiah 43:1-19 as we talk about “Precious Promises of God.”  This is just a massively encouraging text, and a beautiful one.  Let us cling to God’s precious promises!  May they comfort our souls and put a spring in our steps.  As always, I encourage you to read over the text in advance.  It helps.

Coming soon I’ll be doing a Wednesday night Bible study on 1-2 Thessalonians.  The plan is to begin that on February 3 at 6:00pmIt will also be live-streamed and archived.  I invite you to take part, in person or online.  And be reading 1-2 Thessalonians in advance.  Read these epistles over and over, so that themes begin to pop out.  These may have been the first letters the Apostle Paul ever wrote, and they pulsate with freshness and warmth and hope.

Also on February 3 at 6:00pm, the plan is to offer two other adult classes, a women’s study on Elijah, taught by Lisa Amos, and a study of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, taught by David Edgell.  Awana will resume that night at the same time.

Finally, by the time you receive this, President-Elect Biden will be President Biden.  Remember to pray for him faithfully.  Your vote is your choice.  But to pray for your President is not a choice, but a command.  1 Timothy 2:2 commands us as the people of God to pray for our governmental leaders.  In fact, let’s do more than pray.  In a time of so much division, let us be a people who model love, civility, and respect for our fellow Americans.

I love you, church family, and will see you on Sunday, in person or online.

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,

Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
