Pastor Post - June 2, 2020

Dear FBC family,

First, let me thank you for all your kindness to me and my family in the loss of my sweet mom.  Jennie and I and our families are deeply grateful for every expression of love and concern.  We have such a caring family at FBC.

Momma was in so many ways shaped as a disciple in the context of our church.  She and my dad were nurtured and grown in this faith family, and then took what they had learned and poured into others.  Disciples making disciples.  Now it is up to all of us to carry on the disciple-making legacy we received from that great generation at FBC.

I’m so thankful for Wilson stepping in for me on Sunday, and to all of our pastors and staff and volunteers for their helpfulness over the past week.  This week we are approaching Trinity Sunday, a special day when Christians around the world celebrate our Triune God.  Romans 5:1-5 is such a beautiful text, and it shows us “How the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Work Together” in our salvation and sanctification.  We’ll talk about it this Sunday!  Join us in-person or online.

IMPORTANT CHANGE:  This Sunday we will be going to two in-person services at 8:30 and 10:00am, and we will live-stream the 10:00am service.  We thought all along that we could probably move from three to two services after a couple of weeks, but we wanted to err on the side of caution, and then evaluate.  We’ve seen that we will still have plenty of spacing with two services, and you all are doing a fantastic job of being warm and loving, while respecting social distance.  Our army of staff and volunteers has been wonderful at getting everything clean between services, and this buys them just a little more time to do so.

I am so thankful for the great spirit of those who are attending in person, and those who are watching at home.  If you are in that latter category, you watch the whole service live at 10:00am on Facebook or our church website.  We will also record it so that you can watch it as many times as you want, and share it with friends!

I’m excited to get back this Sunday.  I’ll see you in-person at 8:30 or 10:00am, or online at 10:00am. Love you guys!

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Thurman
