Pastor Post - March 8, 2017

The great theologian, Augustine, once said, “Love, and do what you will.” In other words, when we love God and love our neighbor, we are going to do the right things.

No doubt, Augustine got that from the Great Commandment, which we will explore this Sunday. A scribe asks Jesus, “Which is the greatest commandment of all?” Jesus replies, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus followed this up by saying that “all the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

In other words, the commands to love God and love our neighbor sum up the whole Old Testament! Together, they form “The Great Commandment.”

This Sunday we will dive into this teaching, as we study Mark 12:28-44. Read it over and come prayed up!

Also, I will be giving a couple of other talks this weekend. On Saturday from 7:30-8:30 we will be having a special breakfast for men. All FBC men and boys are invited, and any guests you want to bring are welcome. I’m going to be giving a talk called “A Vision For Healthy Manhood.” Men, this will help and encourage you greatly.

Then on Sunday night from 6-7:30 I am going to talk about “How To Share The Gospel Freely And Naturally.” What are those areas that seem to hinder us from opening up and freely sharing the Good News of Jesus? This Sunday night, I am going to show you how to get “unstuck.” This will be enormously helpful to you as a witness.

So, it’s a big weekend coming up at FBC. I’m looking forward to all God will do!

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,

Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
