Pastor Post - March 22, 2017

From now on in our study of Mark, we will be with Jesus and the disciples during the hours leading up to his arrest, crucifixion, and resurrection.

This week, as we look at Mark 14:1-31, we will examine one of the key events of Passion Week: “The Last Supper.”

How did the Last Supper become the Lord’s Supper? What is the connection between Passover and the Last Supper?

As you read over the text this week, ponder the following:

  • Jesus calls Mary’s anointing of him at Bethany “a beautiful thing.” What made it beautiful?
  • What motivated Judas to betray Jesus?
  • How do the arrangements of the Last Supper show us that Jesus was in control of everything that was happening?
  • What was Passover all about, and how did it point to Jesus?
  • How do we see in both Passover and the cross a death that brings deliverance?
  • What does Peter’s denial tell us about our own vulnerability to satanic attack?
  • How can we strengthen our defenses against such attacks?

This is going to be a big weekend, as our students are carrying out Operation Suffolk. All weekend, they will be engaged in small group Bible studies in host homes, going out into the community doing ministry, and coming together for large group worship. You’ll see lots of them on Sunday, sitting up front with their tee shirts on! Be praying for them this weekend, that the Holy Spirit will do a transformational work in them and through them.

This Sunday we will also be taking the Lord’s Supper. It will be awesome to study about the Last Supper and then take the Lord’s Supper. Be in prayer for our worship service, and I’ll see you on Sunday.

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,
