Pastor Post - May 27, 2020

Hey there, FBC family!  This past Sunday was a historic one, as we were able to hold “in-person” worship services for the first time since March 8th.  It went so well.

I am deeply grateful to all our pastors and staff and volunteers, who worked so hard to see this happen smoothly.  And our people were just wonderful – super warm and loving, yet keeping proper spacing all the way through.  And many more were watching at home via Livestream.  It was a great day all the way around!

We talked about the ascension of Christ, that, indeed, “He’s On The Throne.”  The crisis we are in with Covid-19 is temporary.  Christ reigns forever.

While I was writing this (on Tuesday), I received word that my mom had gone to be with Jesus.  Thank you all so much for being a loving family to her!  I am so thankful that she got to go to church one last time on Sunday.  Her faith was nurtured and grown as a young woman here at FBC, and then the Lord used her to touch many others through the years.  We will miss her dearly, but are so thankful she is with Jesus and saved loved ones.  Details about her service will be forthcoming.  I know that many of you who loved her are still staying close to home.  Please do not feel pressured to come out.  Our family knows that you loved her, and that you love us!

Wilson is going to preach this Sunday (Pentecost Sunday) from Acts 2, on the pouring out of the Holy Spirit.  Join in at 8:15, 9:30, or 10:45am  in our sanctuary or via Facebook or our church website for the live-streaming of the 9:30 service.

Our family is so thankful for a loving family of believers like you.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Thurman
