Pastor Post - May 9, 2018

This Sunday we will begin to walk through what is often called “The Great Eight.” The eighth chapter of Romans is an incredible chapter. It begins in verse 1 with “no condemnation” and ends in verse 39 with “no separation.” In between are some of the most powerful words ever written.

This week we will begin this journey through Romans 8 by digging into verse 1: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Try meditating on the words “therefore,” “now,” “no,” “condemnation,” “for those,” “in,” and “Christ Jesus.”

That’s what we will do on Sunday, as we set the tone for what is to come. We’ll talk about “No Condemnation” from Romans 8:1

Sunday is also Mother’s Day, as we get to remember the special ladies God has put in our lives. It’s going to be a wonderful day!

This past Sunday we heard the news that our Student Pastor and his wife, Michael and Christina Anderson, have accepted God’s call to a church in Georgia. I know I speak for our whole congregation when I say we have come to love this couple.

God has used Michael and Christina at FBC in a fantastic way over the past four years. And, we got to see their family expand with the birth of sweet Audrey! Obviously, we will miss them, but at the same time we celebrate their ministry here and will be praying for their ministry in their new assignment. Their last Sunday at FBC will be June 3rd, and we will send them off with a reception following our morning service.

Our student ministry is in very good shape for the summer. Please be praying for God’s Spirit to move and work in the heart of our next Student Pastor. We don’t know who that is yet, but God does, and He will provide.

I’m already excited about this Sunday, as the journey through “The Great Eight” begins! See you then.

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,

Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
