Pastor Post - October 12, 2022

This Sunday we will be looking at one of the most compelling stories in the Bible, as we look at 1 Samuel 17 and look at the story of David and Goliath.  I am calling this message, “Run To The Battle.”

When we look at familiar stories like this, there is a danger:  The story can become overly familiar to us.  We can slip into the trap of thinking we know all there is to know about it.  But that is never the case with Scripture!  The Bible is an inexhaustible treasure trove.  Just as you pull out one precious jewel, you dig a little deeper, and keep finding more.

This Sunday I believe we’ll discover some more of those precious jewels.  Read over 1 Samuel 17 and ask the Spirit to open your eyes to more wonders in the Word.  Read up and come prayed up on Sunday.

We will also be taking the Lord’s Supper on Sunday.  What a blessing it is to be nourished by the cup and the bread of Life.  What a blessing to experience the communion of the saints.

How wonderful to welcome Jason and Gwen Tallman to our FBC Family this past Sunday, as well as their sweet children, Ezekiel and Emmalyn.

The Tallmans are some of many new faces in our church.  They shared with me that they were greeted warmly by the people here – something I hear often from guests.  Let me encourage you to do this more and more.  One of the reasons we begin Sunday School at 9:00 is to give margin for people to mingle prior to the worship at 10:30. As you see new faces before and after service, make it a point to meet them and welcome them.  It means so much.  We want new people to immediately be enveloped in God’s love as they experience contact with God’s people.

Reach out to a friend and invite them to meet you on Sunday.  I’ll see you then…with a Bible in my hand.
