Pastor Post - October 19, 2022

This Sunday, as we continue to walk through the fascinating contours of David’s life, we will look at 1 Samuel 18-20 and talk about “The Gift Of Friendship.”

This past Sunday, we saw that David was catapulted into national prominence after slaying the giant, Goliath.  Remember the key difference between David and the other Israelites?

  • They compared themselves to the giant, rather than comparing the giant to God.
  • David compared the giant to Almighty God…and suddenly the giant didn’t look so big.

When we come into situations that feel like giants, and we feel overwhelmed, what will we do?  Let’s take the David course and compare those “giants” to God!

This week, as we look at chapters 18-20, we will see how we are not designed to fight the good fight of faith by ourselves.  We need friends, and we need the Ultimate Friend.  Be reading over 1 Samuel 18-20 in preparation.

What a joy this past Sunday to welcome more new people into our FBC family.  Join me in warmly welcoming Patricia Mara into our family.  She will soon be baptized.  Also, it is a joy to welcome, Trish, David, and Evelyn Hackett to FBC.  We rejoice that God is adding to His church!

Who’s your one?  There are so many in each of our lives who need Christ and a church family.  Who are you praying for and sharing with and inviting to join you in worship at FBC?  Reach out to them and ask them to join you this Sunday.  I’ll see you there, with a Bible in my hand.

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,
