Pastor Post - November 4, 2020

It was so exciting to preach from Isaiah 36 last week!  As I mentioned, Isaiah 36-39 just pulsates with suspense and brims with rich spiritual principles.

This week we’ll look at chapter 37, which reveals King Hezekiah’s reaction to the Assyrian threats that we saw in chapter 36.  His reaction is a model for how all of us should react to a crisis – he takes it to the Lord, and prays for God to act in a way that will uphold His glory.  What will God do?

I encourage you to read chapter 37 in preparation.  Examine Hezekiah’s prayer.  Examine God’s reaction to his prayer.  What do you see here about God’s character? What do you see here about what pleases Him?  What do you see here about what to do when you face a crisis or a challenge?

This chapter is loaded and power-packed with life-changing truth. I hope you’ll join us at 8:30 or 10:30 in person, or at 10:30 on our livestream.  And be sure to be sharing the video with friends, whether you come in-person or watch online, as we look at Isaiah 37, “That The World May Know.”

It was also great on Sunday to celebrate baby dedication with the Schneiders.  Pray for Elaina Marie and her parents, DJ and Jennifer.  God is blessing our church with lots of little ones.  This is a sign of health, and reason to rejoice!

Finally, by the time you read this we may know who our President will be for the next four years.  Whoever it is, do two things:

First, let anything you say in the aftermath of the election model the character of Christ and the fruit of the Holy Spirit:  Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Gal 5:22-23)

Second, pray for the President, whoever he is.  Your vote is your choice.  To pray for your President is a command.  (1 Tim 2:1-2).  It is a matter of obedience to God.

Looking forward to this Sunday, as we lift up the Real King – the King of kings!

By His Grace, For His Glory, To The Nations,

Dr. Thurman Hayes, Jr.
