This Sunday, as we continue to walk through 1 Timothy, we will look at 1 Timothy 2:1-15 and talk about “Worship in Spirit and Truth.”  

The hub of a worshipping community is its worship service on the Lord’s Day. It is no surprise that Paul wants Timothy to help the Ephesian church get back to healthy practices in regard to this, so chapter two contains several instructions about their public worship. 

But along the way, Paul addresses much more. The false teachers in Ephesus were promoting a false gospel that promoted the idea that the good news was only for some people, not all people. Read over the text and see how this is addressed. Also, these heretics had promoted strife and showiness that was bleeding into the worship services. Notice how this is addressed. There was also confusion about gender roles. 

We will talk about all these things and more on Sunday. This is one of the more difficult chapters in the New Testament, but we dare not gloss over hard passages… they are in the Bible for a reason, and there are treasures to be mined there.
